It may happen that when you try to run diagnostic commands like ipconfig or ping, an error pops up saying “ping is not recognized as an internal or external command”. While this command runs on other computers absolutely fine, you may have hard time to run the commands.
Ipconfig and ping commands are important to see various details of the computer, like ipconfig helps us to find the Ip address of our PC and other things, while ping helps in determining TCP/IP Networks IP address as well as determine issues with the network and assists in resolving them.
This problem was faced by one of our readers and here goes the solution for the problem.
1. Just ensure that there is a file named “cmd.exe” in the C:\Windows\System 32 folder and there is no other similar named file like cmd.com or cmd.bat. Only cmd.exe is the required important file while others (if any) are spyware.
2. To check for those files go to Tools-> Folder Opions-> View-> tick on Show hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system files and folders. If the other files are present delete them.
3. Also make sure that there are the two required files named “ipconfig.exe” and “ping.exe” in the system 32 folder. If not then copy the files from other PC and paste them there.
